Metallic Details MDR4892 is a mixed-media interior upgrade for the Boeing B-17 in 1/48, designed for the Monogram kit. It adds detail to the waist-gunners cabin area using resin, photo-etched, and 3D-printed parts, focusing on the mid-fuselage compartment where framing and interior equipment become visible through side openings and glazing.
The B-17 fuselage interior is built around multiple compartments, and the waist area benefits from added depth because it sits in a long open volume. This set is intended to improve the cabin “busy” look while keeping placement and final visibility dependent on how you pose hatches and clear parts.
For modelers: treat the waist cabin as a module that must align with fuselage halves and any internal bulkheads. Dry-fit the upgraded parts before closing the fuselage, and check that side openings remain unobstructed. Paint the main cabin structure first, then add the smallest PE and 3D-printed elements after base coats so fine edges stay sharp.
