Metallic Details MDM4829 is a self-adhesive painting mask set for the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye in 1/48, recommended for Italeri and Kinetic kits. It is intended to simplify masking steps and help keep edges consistent on areas that are time-consuming to cut by hand.
The practical angle for the E-2C is “glazing + large surface control”: the cockpit glazing and other repeated edge lines can take a lot of time to mask cleanly, and consistent mask geometry helps reduce touch-ups once the airframe is painted (placement is kit-dependent).
The E-2C Hawkeye is a carrier-capable airborne early warning aircraft type. These masks are a neutral paint-stage aid, letting you focus on fit and finish while following your chosen references and color plan.
For modelers: test-fit clear parts and any inserts before masking, then degrease the glazing and surrounding plastic. Apply masks with minimal pressure and burnish only the edges; paint in thin coats to avoid ridges along mask lines. On multi-panel glazing, remove one section at a time to check alignment before committing the full set.
