Metallic Details MDR48271 is a 3D Printed Set to build one Fiat A.74 radial engine for 1/48 aircraft projects. It’s intended for builds where the engine is visible through an open cowling, a wide front opening, or a maintenance-style display, adding sharper cylinder and front-face definition than simplified kit parts.
The Fiat A.74 appeared on multiple aircraft types, so this set is offered as a universal engine upgrade in 1/48. Use it when your chosen kit’s cowling diameter and engine mount arrangement can accept a replacement without forcing the airframe geometry.
For modelers: test-fit the engine inside the cowling before paint to confirm diameter and depth, then check prop shaft alignment so the spinner sits centered. Prime the 3D-printed resin, paint cylinders and crankcase as separate steps for cleaner separation, and keep glue points minimal so the cooling fin detail stays open.
