Metallic Details MDR1200-01 Detail Set combines photo-etched metal and 3D-printed parts for upgrading SMS Blücher ship models in 1/1200. The unique focus in this small scale is silhouette refinement: thin rail-like elements, platforms, and small superstructure features can look oversized in molded plastic, and PE helps keep edges and openings visually lighter.
SMS Blücher is a large early-20th-century warship subject, and at 1/1200 many surface features become simplified. This set is intended to add definition where it is most noticeable on a finished model—around deck edges and key superstructure areas—without requiring a full rebuild. Final placement depends on your specific kit engineering.
For modelers: decide early which areas will remain most visible (deck edge, bridge block, or masts) and prioritize those parts first. Dry-fit PE against the kit surfaces and remove any paint from bonding points for stronger adhesion. For 3D-printed pieces, check height and alignment before glue; in 1/1200 a slight tilt can be obvious, so use a flat reference line and work in small sections.
