Description
Ford Model T 1917 LCP with Vickers MG is a plastic model vehicle kit in 1/35 scale produced by ICM. The kit represents a modified version of the well-known Model T automobile adapted for military service during the later stages of World War I. These light patrol cars combined the simple and reliable Model T chassis with a mounted machine gun for mobile defense and escort roles. The model is supplied unpainted and unassembled.
The Ford Model T was originally designed as a civilian passenger car, but its simple construction and widespread availability led to numerous military adaptations during the First World War. Various units mounted machine guns on the vehicle platform to create light patrol and security vehicles capable of rapid movement across roads and open terrain.
Ford Model T 1917 LCP – Light Patrol Vehicle
Light combat patrol vehicles based on civilian cars appeared in several armies during World War I. Their mobility allowed them to perform reconnaissance, escort, and security tasks in areas where larger armored vehicles were impractical. The combination of a light car and machine gun created a flexible platform for local defense duties.
For modelers: early military vehicles based on civilian cars offer interesting possibilities for painting wood, metal, and fabric components. Subtle weathering of the chassis and wheels can help represent vehicles operating on early twentieth-century roads.
