Description
Spitfire LF.IXE Soviet Fighter is a 1/48 scale plastic model kit by ICM representing the Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk.IXE operated by Soviet pilots during World War II. The aircraft served with Soviet units after being supplied through Allied cooperation and was used primarily in fighter roles during the later period of the war.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was developed to counter improved German fighters and became one of the most widely produced versions of the aircraft. The LF (Low-altitude Fighter) configuration used the Merlin engine optimized for operations at lower altitudes, giving the aircraft strong performance in tactical air combat and interception missions.
Spitfire LF.IXE - World War II Allied Fighter in Soviet Service
Although originally designed and produced in the United Kingdom, the Spitfire Mk.IX was also delivered to allied nations. Several aircraft were transferred to the Soviet Union where they were flown by Soviet pilots and integrated into fighter aviation units during the later phase of the war.
