ICM 48100 Scale 1:48 Mistel 1 WWII German Composite Aircraft Plastic model kit

Mistel 1 (Ju 88A-4 & Bf 109F-4) is a 1/48 scale plastic aircraft model kit by ICM representing the German composite aircraft system used during World War II. The configuration combined a Ju 88A-4 bomber carrying a large nose detail parts with a Bf 109F-4 fighter mounted above as the control aircraft.

The Mistel concept was developed as a special attack system in which a fighter aircraft guided an unmanned explosive-laden bomber toward a target. After guiding the combined aircraft close to the objective, the pilot separated from the upper fighter while the lower aircraft continued toward the target.

Mistel 1 - World War II Composite Aircraft System

The Mistel 1 configuration paired the Junkers Ju 88A-4 with a Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 mounted above the bomber fuselage using a support structure. These composite aircraft were used in experimental and operational missions late in the war.

For modelers: Composite aircraft models require careful alignment of the support frame connecting the two airframes. It is helpful to assemble and test-fit the mounting structure before final attachment of the upper aircraft.
