Description
Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia RTAF aircraft plastic model kit in 1/72 scale by ICM represents a version of the Japanese twin-engine heavy bomber operated by the Royal Thai Air Force during the World War II period. The Ki-21 was one of the primary long-range bombers developed by Mitsubishi for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force and later supplied to allied operators.
The Ki-21 entered service in the late 1930s and became a widely used bomber in East and Southeast Asia. The Ki-21-Ia was among the early production variants and was employed for long-range bombing and transport missions. Aircraft of this type were also delivered to Thailand, where they served with the Royal Thai Air Force as part of regional air operations during the war.

The Ki-21 featured a streamlined fuselage, twin radial engines, and a glazed nose section typical of bomber designs of the late 1930s. In Thai service the aircraft retained the general configuration of the Japanese Army version while operating with national markings of the Royal Thai Air Force.
For modelers: The multi-engine layout and extensive glazing of the Ki-21 make it useful to plan interior painting and canopy masking before final assembly of the clear parts. Painting the engines and landing gear as separate subassemblies can simplify finishing in this 1/72 scale model.
