Description
Yakovlev UT-1, UT-1B and UT-1 Hydro in 1/144 scale is a plastic model kit by Mikro Mir representing three versions of a Soviet single-engine training aircraft developed during the interwar period. The UT-1 series was designed by Alexander Yakovlev as a light advanced trainer used by Soviet aviation schools during the 1930s.
The UT-1 first flew in the mid-1930s and was created as a simple, compact aircraft intended to train pilots transitioning to higher-performance aircraft. With its light structure and responsive handling, it became a familiar aircraft in Soviet training units and flying clubs before the outbreak of World War II.
Yakovlev UT-1 Series - Soviet Interwar Trainer Aircraft
The UT-1 was followed by several modifications including the UT-1B, which introduced minor equipment changes and operational improvements. Another variant, the UT-1 Hydro, was adapted for operations from water using floats, expanding the aircraft’s training and liaison capabilities in coastal and river regions.
This kit represents three different aircraft from the UT-1 family, allowing the modeler to build multiple variations of the same design lineage within a compact 1/144 scale format.
For modelers: Due to the small scale and compact aircraft structure, careful alignment of the wings, landing gear or float assemblies will help maintain the characteristic proportions of the UT-1 family when assembling each variant.
