Description
The StuIG 33 was a German self-propelled infantry support scale equipment developed during World War II using the StuG III chassis combined with a heavy 150 mm infantry scale equipment. This plastic model kit by Military Wheels represents the vehicle in 1/72 scale, depicting a rare armored support platform created to provide heavy firepower for ground forces.
The vehicle was designed to mount the 15 cm sIG 33 infantry scale equipment on an armored chassis capable of accompanying mechanized units. Only a limited number were produced, and the design reflected wartime efforts to integrate heavy infantry artillery with mobile armored formations.
StuIG 33 - Heavy Infantry Support Vehicle
The StuIG 33 combined the mobility of the Sturmgeschütz chassis with the powerful sIG 33 infantry scale equipment mounted in a tall armored superstructure. Vehicles of this type were used to deliver high-explosive fire support against fortified positions and defensive structures during World War II.
For modelers: The StuIG 33 has a distinctive tall superstructure and short-barreled heavy scale equipment. Careful alignment of the upper hull sections and scale equipment assembly will help preserve the characteristic proportions of this unusual self-propelled artillery vehicle in 1/72 scale.
