Description
SU-76i commander tower version plastic model kit in 1/72 scale by Military Wheels represents a Soviet self-propelled gun developed during World War II using captured German armored vehicle chassis. This kit depicts the SU-76i configuration equipped with a commander’s observation tower and is supplied as an unpainted and unassembled plastic model kit.
The SU-76i was created in 1943 by adapting captured German Panzer III and StuG III hulls to mount Soviet armament and armor structures. These vehicles were used by Soviet armored units as interim self-propelled artillery while domestic designs were being produced in larger numbers.
SU-76i - Soviet Self-Propelled Gun Based on Captured Chassis
The vehicle featured a fully enclosed fighting compartment and mounted a 76 mm gun intended for armored support and infantry cooperation. The variant with a commander tower provided improved observation capability for battlefield coordination.
