Description
TACAM self-propelled gun is represented in this 1/72 scale plastic model kit from Military Wheels, depicting a Romanian improvised armored fighting vehicle developed during World War II.
Romania developed several TACAM (Tun Anticar pe Afet Mobil) vehicles as mobile anti-tank platforms using available tank chassis and captured artillery. These vehicles were designed to provide a mobile solution for mounting powerful anti-tank guns on existing armored vehicle frames.
TACAM - Romanian Improvised Tank Destroyer
The TACAM concept reflected wartime adaptation, where older tank chassis were converted into self-propelled gun platforms with open-topped fighting compartments. Vehicles of this type allowed Romanian forces to field heavier anti-tank weapons while reusing existing armored vehicles.
For modelers: Vehicles with open fighting compartments benefit from painting the interior surfaces and gun assembly before attaching the upper structure. Careful alignment of the gun mount helps preserve the distinctive silhouette of TACAM vehicles.
