Description
Metallic Details MD3509 is a photo-etched set for simulating monstera leaves in diorama scenes. Designed around 1/35 projects, the thin metal parts allow layered foliage and leaf edges with fine cut-outs.
These leaves can be used as a foreground texture element: place shaped pieces near figures, stowage, or ground clutter to break up flat areas and add scale cues. With careful selection of leaf sizes, the set can be used from 1/72 up to 1/35.
For modelers: gently curve each leaf over a rounded tool (brush handle or dowel) to avoid sharp bends. If needed, anneal the metal (brief heat, then cool) before shaping. Prime first, then paint in thin layers; add subtle tonal variation leaf-to-leaf. Fix to stems or groundwork with small amounts of CA, and use PVA for final positioning where you want more working time.

FAQ
Can I use this set in smaller scales like 1/72 or 1/48?
Yes, by choosing the smallest leaf shapes, trimming if needed, and keeping placement sparse. In smaller scales, using a few leaves can be more consistent than filling the base densely.
How do I shape photo-etched leaves without kinks?
Use a rounded forming surface and gradual pressure rather than a sharp fold. Curving in several light passes helps keep the leaf surface smooth.
What glue works best for attaching leaves to a diorama base?
CA is suitable for small contact points. PVA can be used for final positioning on groundwork when you want time to adjust and a slightly flexible bond.
