Characteristics
A set of 1/48 scale decals dedicated to Operation Iraqi Freedom, originally Shock and Awe, the military operation of the United States and its allies against Iraq launched in 2003 to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein. Military operations against the Iraqi army began on March 20 and ended on April 9, when American troops occupied the Iraqi capital Baghdad. On May 1, US President George W. Bush announced the end of active hostilities.
The set includes aircraft that directly took part in this military operation. The kit includes the following options:
- AV-8B BuNo 164566 of VMA-311 Detachment A, 15th MEU-SOC/HMM-161 and I MEF/ATF-W, USS Tarawa (LHA-1), Northern Arabian Gulf, April 2003.
- AV-8B BuNo 163675 of VMA-311 Detachment A, 15th MEU-SOC/HMM-268, USS Peleliu (LHA-5) and Ali-Al-Salem, January 1996.
- AV-8B BuNo 165578 of VMA-211, Al Asad, December 2006.
- AV-8B BuNo 164566 of VMA-311 Detachment A 15th MEU-SOC/HMM-163, USS Peleliu (LHA-5), Arabian Sea, November 2001.
