Description
OT-133 Soviet flame-throwing tank in 1/72 scale is a plastic model kit by UMT representing a specialized armored vehicle developed in the Soviet Union during the Interwar period. The OT-133 was a flamethrower-equipped version of the T-26 light tank, adapted for close-support roles.
The vehicle was based on the widely produced T-26 chassis, one of the most common Soviet tanks of the 1930s. In the OT-133 configuration, the main gun was replaced by a flamethrower system installed in the turret. These vehicles were intended to support infantry by engaging fortified positions and obstacles. OT-series tanks appeared in several Soviet armored units in the late 1930s and remained in service during the early stages of World War II.
OT-133 - Flamethrower Variant of the T-26
The OT-133 represented one of the Soviet efforts to adapt standard tank designs for specialized battlefield tasks. By integrating a flamethrower into the turret of the T-26 platform, the vehicle retained the mobility of the original light tank while providing a different type of close-range support capability.
For modelers: the OT-133 differs externally from standard T-26 tanks mainly by the turret configuration and the absence of the main gun. Careful painting of the turret details and running gear helps emphasize these differences in small scale.
