Description
US Airfield Surface M8A1 Landing Mat is a 1/48 scale plastic diorama set by ICM representing portable metal airfield matting used by United States forces for temporary runways and aircraft parking areas.
M8A1 landing mat systems were designed to create stable operating surfaces for aircraft on improvised airfields. The perforated steel panels could be quickly assembled to form runways, taxiways, and service areas, allowing aircraft to operate from locations where prepared airfield infrastructure was unavailable.
